Our Mint Julep

With the backyard mint and high stakes horse racing underway… this is a perfect time of year to make Mint Juleps! Enjoy…

Ingredients…

10 large fresh mint leaves

1 Tablespoon simple syrup… see recipe below

Plenty of crushed ice

2 jiggers Makers Mark  Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

1 fresh mint sprig to garnish

To Make…

In a cocktail glass, muddle the mint leaves and simple syrup.

Pack the glass with crushed ice and add the bourbon.

Stir gently and pack with more ice up to the brim.

Garnish with a mint sprig and serve immediately.

Simple Syrup…

Dissolve equal parts sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat by slowly bring to a gentle boil. Stir once and then let it low boil for a minute or so without stirring. Remove from heat and let cool. Store in fridge for a few months.
